VLXE Lite

by Torben Laursen 10. November 2008 17:30

I have for some time been planning a scaled down version of VLXE. The result is now out and is called VLXE Lite.

It is a free version that has some limitations but it comes with the same calculation engine, databases and interface as the commercial versions.

The goal are people who does not have a need for performing calculations on complex mixtures but are just looking for a low-cost quality solution to there PVT and phase equilibrium problems.

It can also be used as an Excel interface to DIPPR 801 Lite.

If you want to try VLXE Lite it can be downloaded here:

Just me?

by Torben Laursen 11. October 2008 10:58

Just me?

A question I often meet is how many people work in my company?

Well there am only me.

This is often a huge surprise for people who do not understand how I get all the thinks done.

The simple answer is outsourcing. Everything that is not cure knowledge in my company is outsourced. My office for example is in an office hotel that provides all the services that a company needs like reception, meeting room, mail handling etc.

But how do I determine what to outsource? The rule that I have is:  If it is something that a customer will ask me about it does not get outsourced. This is needed so I can give a quick answer. A customer may ask me how to use the flash or how to install the software so that cannot be outsourced but a customer will never ask me how to host my homepage so that can be outsourced.

All in all a company can be run with very limited manpower if the will to outsource is present.

DIPPR Contact Signed

by Torben Laursen 18. August 2008 17:34

I have now signed a distributor contract with DIPPR.

This will bring a great enhancment to the software in two ways.

#1 Standard properties like critical temperature and ideal gas heat capacit will now be taken from DIPPR

#2 A Excel interface is provided for easy calculations of temperature dependent properties given in DIPPR.

The user can get for example Cp for water over a temperature range including a chart with only 3 mouse click.

First open the menu by selecting DIPPR/Properties

Then click OK to let the wizard generate the Excel function:

Thats all it needs to generate the heat capacity for water.

More DIPPR integration will follower soon.

Welcome to VLXE blog!

by Torben Laursen 10. August 2008 17:10

Welcome to the VLXE blog!

I have wanted a blog for some time since I often get questions regarding how to run the company and how I program the software.

Programming thermodynamic is not a straight forward task and it seems that only few people on the planet like to do it.

But I am one of those strange beasts and would very much like to share my knowledge.

So enjoy my blog and if you have any questions write a comment or send me an email.

Thanks

Torben
